Eight years ago, in 2010, we started out on this project to build a new Glenariffe Community and Recreation Centre
for everyone to use. It’s now September 2018, and after a lot of hard work, endless meetings and loads of
fundraising, we’re nearly there.
We’re very proud of Glenariffe’s community spirit and the fantastic support our community has given to help get this project off the ground. A lot of people have worked very hard over the past 8 years to help realise our goal to provide a community space for the people of Glenariffe. We may be a small community, but we have raised over £281,000 ourselves and secured the rest of the funding required to get Phase One of our community build project underway from The Big Lottery-funded Space & Place Programme, Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council and a loan from Ulster Community Investment Trust (UCIT).
There’s still lots of work to do and funding to be raised to complete the project, so we hope we can count on your support. We are currently fundraising to kit out the Centre with furniture and equipment to make it fully operational. We have secured the funding to build the new Centre, but we need a further £150,000 to fit out the Centre. Please make a donation to our ‘Help our Fit-Out Fund’ so that we can provide the facilities and services our community desperately needs and deserves.
You can also become a Friend of Glenariffe and covenant a monthly sum towards our funds, you can come along to one of our many fundraising events and activities, or you can join us as a volunteer.
The journey has been difficult and long but with perseverance and hard work we have got there together. A massive thank you to all our supporters especially our invaluable volunteers, the hurling club and our funders.
